We promised you more social events for Exploris families, and we are delivering! Our Social Committee has decided to hold one outdoor and one indoor event every month. We are going to hold the events at a variety of times so everyone will hopefully have a chance to attend something.We are still working on dates and times, but we are planning events for biking, indoor rock climbing, a field day and potluck, and more! Details for the rest of the year’s events will come soon.

Please keep in mind that the events are supposed to be an opportunity for fun and to get to know other Exploris families, not an obligation. We don’t expect you to attend every event, just the ones you are genuinely interested in, so if you can’t come, no worries!

HIKE

I know it’s late notice, but the promise of a 55 degree, sunny day this Sunday lured me into organizing a hike!

Where: Umstead Park, the picnic shelters off of the Reedy Creek Entrance near Interstate 40, Harrison Ave exit.  Click for a map of Umstead.

When: Sunday, January 18 from 1-3ish. Bring your lunch for a picnic by the creek during the hike!

Who: All Exploris families and friends. There are a variety of levels of hikes at the Reedy Creek entrance, so hopefully we can put together hiking groups of all levels.

Rain Plan: Wells Fargo IMAX Theater at Marbles – Deep Sea Challenge at 3pm. NOTE: There are coupons for the IMAX Theater in the GoPlaySave book (page 303) sold by the 8th graders.

Sign up here if you are planning to attend so that we can plan accordingly. You can still show up if you don’t sign up in case you have a last minute change of plans.

GAME DAY

Where: At one of the Exploris Campuses. We are waiting to see how many sign up to make plans.

When: Saturday, January 31 from 3-6pm.

Who: All Exploris families and friends.

IMPORTANT: Babysitting by industrious 8th graders will be available for a suggested donation of $5 per kid per hour. The money will go to support their Outward Bound trip in April.
