Monday Minute: Teacher Appreciation Week, Screenagers, Tim Moreland Benefit, Middle School Dance Tickets/ Info, Parents Night Out, How to Join the PTO

As the days wind down towards the end of the school year, you will see an uptick of information in our Monday Minute, so open up your calendar and take a minute to review everything. This week will be the Screenager Panel April 25, and the Tim Moreland Benefit (for Mr. Matt’s dad) April 28, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5, the Middle School Dance May 12, tickets are available online now, and Parents Night Out May 18.

We would love to have you on our PTO board next year, it is a great way to meet admin, staff and other parents while helping out our awesome school. You can find more information about our PTO at

Teacher Appreciation Sign Ups

Teacher Appreciation Week will run May 1-5, 2023. There are many ways to help celebrate our fabulous Exploris teachers.

How to make a video:

  1. Go to (or go to and enter exploris23 in the join code spot)
  2. Click on the team/group you want to “appreciate”
  3. Click record and record your video!  

That’s it!  If you go to and enter explorispto you can view videos from a few years ago.  Lots of parents and students participated!

Screenagers This Tuesday 4/25

Screenagers: Next Chapter is a film that examines the science behind emotional challenges, the interplay of social media (and technology), and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.  After viewing the film, we will have a panel of experts to guide us in a Q&A/discussion.  

In addition, this is the schedule for the event:  

Doors Open: 5:30PM

Movie Begins: 6:10PM

Panel Begins: 7:10PM 

Event End Time: 8:15PM

Tim Moreland Benefit 4/28

Join us as we support Mr. Matt’s Dad, Tim Moreland, this coming Friday, 4/28/23.  The local Mt. Zion GMC is hosting a BBQ fundraiser with $13 plates being offered throughout the day. To Find out more information go to the Event Facebook Page.

Middle School Dance Tickets Available

Get your dancing shoes ready because it is time for our annual middle school dance!!  This year our middle school dance will be held at the City of Raleigh Museum on Friday, May 12 from 7pm-9pm. The CORM is located at 220 Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh.  You will be able to drop your student off at the front entrance and then go out and have a nice evening in downtown!  Parents will not be allowed to attend the event.  Middle School Students only!  We have limited space available and we want to reserve that for all of our students. 

The CORM has provided parking directions for those of you who would like to grab a bite to eat/drink in the area while we entertain your student.  The parking garage cost $5. 

You can order your tickets in advance for only $8.  Please add your child’s name to the order.   You can also pay at the door for $10.

Are you looking for ways to get involved at Exploris? Joining the PTO will open opportunities to make a positive impact on our community.

As this year comes to a close, we are looking to fill positions for next year. Please email and let us know what you are interested in/ what skills you are willing to share with us. We have lots of committees that you could join! Fundraising, teacher appreciation, events, outreach, accounting, volunteering, communication, and more. The more parent/ family participation received, the greater impact we can make for our students!
