5.  Exploris students are raising funds to support Syrian refugees.

refugeesSYRIAN REFUGEE FAMILY – Shannon’s 8th grade service learning group has a year long goal to end racism. One of their actions is that they want to help settle a refugee family in Raleigh. After 3 months of Emails and phone calls we have been given the opportunity to set up an apartment for a family that left Syria in 2012 when the boys were 12 and 15 years old. They have been in Jordan since – waiting for asylum. The mother is now 63 with her two boys 19 and 22 years. On Wednesday, March 27 they will arrive at RDU as they begin their permanent life here in the U.S. We are scrambling for a nice couch, pick up trucks, and one more dresser. We have over 100 small, specific needs cleaning supplies, towels, and toothbrushes. Each of these items are posted on our giving board. We appreciate any help we can get in moving in on Monday, March 25th after-school. If you would like to join us please reach out to Dakoda Fisher. dafisher@exploris.org (More to come as we get closer to the move in date.) and please contribute to the Go Fund Me “Every cent raised will go towards furnishing their home and giving them the supplies needed to live a happy life. Please help give this refugee family the happiness they deserve.  – 8th Graders Willi Dunlap and Asher Cohen
