3/21 MM: Middle School Cleanup Day- Craft Fair Signup – Family Day info

Please read the Monday Minute for schoolwide updates from the Exploris PTO! If you have items to be included just email them to explorisptonews@gmail.com by noon on Mondays.

Don’t forget: this Wednesday, March 23 is a Flex Day for Exploris students.

Exploris Craft Fair during Family Day

If you’ve been around Exploris for a while, you may remember the Exploris Craft Fair that used to be held in November on the day of the Raleigh Christmas Parade. This was an opportunity for Exploris vendors to sell artwork and craft items, as well as a chance for Exploris students to raise money for Outward Bound or other passion projects. We are going to have a Craft Fair during the Spring Festival this year!

Vendors: Exploris families who would like to set up a booth to sell their products can do so for $20, which will be donated to the Exploris Food Pantry.

Student Groups: Students can sell items to raise money for passion projects such as non-profits and charities. Each student group must have a parent sponsor.

Note: You will have space to set up your own table, tent and products. No food or drink please, see more info on the registration link.

If you’d like to participate, please register here by April 1.

Join us for our next Exploris Spring Cleanup Day- Saturday, March 26 at the Middle School. Thanks to everyone who joined on March 19 at the Elementary Campus! We really appreciate all who came and gave of their time.  We could not have done all that we did without the help of our entire community — board members, teachers, administrators, parents, students — it really was a collective effort.  We hope to repeat this again for our middle school building! See photos below.

🐝 On March 26, join us at the middle school campus.

  • Date: Saturday March 26
  • Location: 401 Hillsborough St
  • Time: 9:00-noon

Bring: tools, drills, work gloves, larger cars/trucks for hauling things away, friends, family, a sense of fun!

RSVP: Just so we have a rough idea how many will be in attendance: https://docs.google.com/…/1FAIpQLScv0zn…/viewform…

Tasks:

  • We will mostly be working indoors
  • clean out areas include the old elevator shaft and the basement storage closet
  • general sprucing up and smaller tasks around the building
  • Sorting & removing older books and items from classrooms
  • removing some broken/broken down furnishings

We’ll have: water available and pizza delivered around noon!

Join the Exploris Foundation! The foundation is the fundraising arm of the school. We are looking for board members to serve a 3-year term. We especially need someone to run the school’s annual fund drive, which aims to raise $100,000 in donations each year. Contact annualfund@exploris.org to apply.

Spring Family Day Volunteers Needed!

The Exploris PTO needs parent volunteers to help out with running the Exploris Spring Family Day!  Please come out and join in the fun!  We are hoping volunteers could work for 1 hour during the Family Day and spend the other 2 hours enjoying the day with your family.

We are looking forward to the Spring Family Day on April 3 from 2-5 at the Elementary Campus. Bring the entire family to play games, shop the Exploris Craft Fair, experience Sunset Slush and Dinkie’s Mini Donuts Food Trucks and enjoy a beautiful spring day with the Exploris community. We will be hosting a food drive to help stock the Exploris Food Pantry. Please bring non-perishable items!

We will also be selling Papa Murphy’s pizzas. Proceeds will go to the Exploris Food Pantry. Pick one up on your way home. Dinner is already made!

Speak up at a School Board Meeting!

The Exploris School Board meets once a month on the fourth Tuesday. We encourage the Exploris community to take advantage of the public input section at the beginning of each meeting: “Fifteen minutes will be allocated on the agenda for public input at each meeting. Additional time may be added at the discretion of the Chair. Public comment may be oral, in person, or in written form to be read by the Chair. Public comment is limited to no more than 3 minutes per person. It is recommended that public comment be written out and provided to the board following the three minutes to ensure the entire message is heard by the board. Each speaker will clearly state their full name and county of residence. All public comment should be factual and should not include personally identifiable information of students or personnel in order to maintain confidentiality. Speakers should avoid using names of students or staff and maintain confidentiality and privacy standards.”

If you would like to submit comments in written form please email them to board@exploris.org.

The March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at 4:30pm at the Exploris Elementary Campus or on Zoom.

Board meeting information and links are always available on The Exploris School public calendar.
