Explorations is Seeking Funding Through Donor’s Choose

Help us fund our startup supplies through Donor’s Choose. We only need $383. You can give to  our project at DonorsChoose.org: Explorations.

What is Explorations?

Exploris believes that our local community, our city, our state, this country and the entire world is our classroom. Because of this we have created Explorations, an ongoing  weekly community-led K-5 electives program where students choose from a variety of enrichment activities. Each class, or “module,” lasts six weeks. Modules may include a service component, a chance to learn a new skill, the opportunity to build on an interest, or a new insight about our community.

 

K/1 Explorations is Monday afternoons from 1:15-3:15.  Explorations for the second through fifth graders is Wednesday afternoons from 1:15-3:15.

We need volunteers!

Explorations is community-led and we need guest teachers! Each teacher will lead a two-hour lesson once per week for six consecutive weeks. See the site for exact dates.

 

We need 40 volunteers per week to make Explorations possible. We need you (and your neighbors, and relatives, and friends…). Feel free to share this information and recruit others to be Explorations volunteers with you.

 

Not sure what to teach?

We are confident that everyone has a skill to share! If you are interested in leading an Explorations module but not sure where to begin, please check out this site to get the creative juices flowing. Your module could be focused on almost any topic, including the visual and performing arts, service, STEM, life skills, physical fitness, writing/speaking, wellness, and more!

 

Class size will cap at 12 students and two adult volunteers will be present at all times.

Also, we will guide you through the planning process and answer any questions that you have along the way!
