Exploris Building10. Building Update (From the March Exploris School Newsletter)

Unfortunately, the developer has informed us that the building financing will not be finalized in March as anticipated.  They are now projecting an April target date.  While we are all disappointed that this is not happening as quickly as we would like, the developer has continued to assure us of their 100% commitment to our project and partnership.  Building the first Energy Positive building in the Triangle as our new school home has been an audacious strategic goal.  There have been many challenges and hurdles along the way that have been overcome; but this has led to a much longer lead time to construction than what was originally anticipated.

We are continuing to work with the developer, architect, designer, and furniture company to further refine and develop the design to meet the needs of our expanding school.  The architect has continued to meet with the school building transition team to work on the classroom design, floor plan, and furniture needs.  They have also started the process and are planning with engineers and the Department of Transportation to ensure our carpool line operates efficiently and does not impact traffic in the city. The Board continues to review and discuss progress and assess how to move us forward toward our goal of having our K-8 school in our new home.
