Very few parents have provided feedback on next year’s proposed calendar (Thank you to those who have!) which was in my email entitled “2015-2016 School Calendar Survey.” In case you missed it, the content of the email is at the bottom of this post.

Please review the calendar and complete the survey below by the end of the day, tomorrow, January 16.

• WCPSS End Date – Thursday, June 9; Exploris end – Friday, June 10

From Summer’s first email:

An Exploris calendar committee has been working for the past couple of months to create a school calendar for the 2015-2016 school year.

The committee carefully thought through our community’s needs to create a calendar that considers families who enroll their children in summer camps and travel around holidays, builds in staff professional development and workdays at key points in the year, and maximizes student instructional time and performance.

The state does require that students be in school either 185 days or for 1025 instructional hours. Our calendar uses the instructional hour model and does build in a few days for inclement weather.

The school’s hours are being proposed to change to:
8:30-3:15 for the Elementary and 8:15 – 3:00 for the Middle.

The deadline for survey results is this Friday.
