Are You the Next PTO Board Member?

The PTO is currently looking for interested individuals to help fill a few open positions for the 2018-2019 school year. The following positions will need to be filled:

President-Elect

The President-Elect will serve as the following school year’s PTO President (2019-2020). He or she will spend the year observing, sitting in on meetings & learning the in’s & out’s of the PTO President role to help provide some continuity at the change of the school year when he or she rolls into the PTO President role.

What does the PTO President do?

  • Oversee PTO events
  • Run PTO meetings & chair the PTO Board
  • Email & check in with committee chairs to make sure things are moving forward
  • Approve expenses
  • Be a representative of the PTO on the Exploris Board. Attend all meetings and vote in a manner you feel best represents the parents and teachers. (Note: If you cannot fulfill the board requirements, you are able to nominate a proxy who can be approved by the PTO Board for this position)

VP of VOLUNTEERS

The VP of Volunteers is a member of the PTO Board, and as such, attends meetings and votes on any issues. He or she is responsible for helping organize volunteers & chairpersons for the many committees/events for the year.  (Ex. 8th Grade graduation, adult social, fall picnic, hospitality, snack stash, teacher/staff appreciation week…) Take note that the VP of Volunteers is NOT in charge of all of these things. He or she helps seek out volunteers to make these events and committees run smoothly.

VP of FUNDRAISING

The VP of Fundraising is a member of the PTO Board, and as such, attends meetings and votes on any issues. He or she is responsible for overseeing fundraising for the year, which includes assisting when needed those chairing committees like Passive Fundraising & Box Tops. The VP of Fundraising will help make sure the fundraising programs are running smoothly and will reach out to help solve any issues that may arise.
